In 2004, the U.S. Conference of Mayors issued a challenge to mayors from across the country to go back to their individual communities to encourage the development of ongoing financial education strategies among the citizenry.
Mayor Otis Johnson has done just that. Locally, we have the Mayor's Dollar Wise Committee. We are responsible for helping Mayor Johnson get the word out about savings, investing, getting out of debt, and building assets for the future. The Neighborhood Improvement Association serves as headquarters for the Mayor's Dollar Wise Committee. Our goal is to help our community place themselves in a better position to own homes, raise healthy families, educate their children, and invest in small businesses.
